During the month of October the Monte do Casal will be giving their guests the opportunity to join the chefs and learn how to prepare good Portuguese food. There will be a trip to the local market place to choose fresh products and bring them back to Monte do Casal where the guests will learn to transform them into traditional Algarve delicacies.

Olive Oil trip: 24 to 26 October
During the months of October and November it is the Portuguese olive harvesting season. Monte do Casal will be visiting an Olive Press where guests will discover the process of transformation of the olives into olive oil. There will be a chance to taste fresh olive oil and a sip of some new fig firewater. After this, guests will head into the mountains to have some traditional mountain food on a spectacular restaurant terrace where they can gaze south onto the Algarve and see the ocean over the mountain.  Monte do Casal is a beautiful old 18th century Country House Hotel situated in a protected preservation area close to the ancient hill village of Estoi, yet only 15minutes drive from the airport at Faro. The Hotel offers a high degree of privacy with the emphasis on comfort, personal service and first class food in an atmosphere of total relaxation. Managing Owner, Bill Hawkins launched his First Private Botanical Gardens in the Algarve project at the end of September 2006.
