 The Graca Convent in Tavira was once the Convent of the Cloistered Augustinian Nuns which was founded by Dom Sebastiao around 1569. Most noteworthy features are the 16th and 17th century Renaissance cloister, the facade facing the main square and the central staircase, both in the Baroque style. Archaeological traces of Islamic origin were discovered during the restoration work. This resulted in the plans being changed in order to include the finds which are partially visible from the bar.
 Tavira is a city with several ancient heritages. It was a Phoenician village, it was inhabited by the Romans and it was an important city during the Muslim occupation. It is a river town (River Gilao) and is situated in the middle of the Ria Formosa Natural Park with the beaches being on the Ilha da Tavira lagoon. There is a market on the 3rd Saturday and an Old Things Fair on the 3rd Sunday of each month with the annual fair of Santa Catarina of Fonte do Bispo being held on the 25th August.
 Of the 31 rooms, 7 are double rooms and 24 are twin rooms. Some of the rooms have small balconies. One of the double rooms has a view to the church and the public garden in front of the Pousada and another has a mezzannine. These rooms together with two others, one of which has a private garden, are characterised as superior rooms. There are also 5 suites to choose from. One of the rooms has facilities suitable for disabled visitors. Rooms are air conditioned,  have cable TV, a mini bar, hair drier, phone and Internet facilities.
The local menu includes local dishes such as scallop shell with mussels tagliatelli, tuna steak with garlic and parma ham sauce, fried onions and olive oil with herbs, pork fillets over a chick pea, saute bread and clam sauce, Tavira cake, pear sauce with mint and lemon sorbet.
