Where to eat in the Algarve, Portugal
A Concha Restaurante in Praia da Luz
This one of "position, position, position" restaurants! Situated on the the Promenade in Luz, nearer the Rua da Praia, Beach bar end than the other it is, therefore, very near to parking facilities. Set up a few steps and overlooking Luz bay, the restaurant has an outside covered terrace from which the front tables have a splendid and uninterrupted view. Our visit was early in the year and our party of 8 sat inside in the warm.
A modest amount of the standard couverte of bread, butter, cheese, olives and sardine paté was ordered as not everyone wanted some and those who wanted a starter all chose soup: vegetable, tomato or fish. Our main courses were quite varied though with grilled chicken, Portuguese steak, medallions of pork, lamb chops, a pepper steak, pork loin in Madeira sauce and sardines being chosen - all were served with a choice of potato and salad or vegetables. As usual, we drank the house red wine and a few soft drinks were ordered too. Only 2 of us managed to get to the dessert course and the choice made was a vanilla ice-cream and a chocolate mousse which together with coffees for some rounded off a very pleasant meal and evening.
Being in such a prime position, this is a busy restaurant in the summer months and booking is advised.
