Where to eat in the Algarve, Portugal

Restaurante Atlantico in Praia da Luz

Restaurante Atlantico is situated on Avenida dos Pescadores, just past the church on the road Restaurante Atlantico, Praia da Luz, Algarve from Algarve Retreats Ltddown to the Praia da Luz sea front.  There is an outside covered terrace where it is particularly pleasant to eat on warm summer evenings.  The restaurant has both typical Portuguese and International dishes on it's menu, many of which have an innovative twist to them.

Starters include the usual prawn cocktail and smoked ham with melon but there is also mussels in white wine, coriander and cream, prawns fried in garlic with piri piri, panfried mushrooms with garlic and coriander sauce and deep fried brie with apricot chutney together with chef's and tomato salads and fish, homemade tomato and Portuguese vegetable with chourico soups to choose from. For connoisseurs of fish soup, this could be one of the best.

Restaurante Atlantico, Praia da Luz, Algarve from Algarve Retreats LtdThere is a wide choice of main courses: if your taste is for poultry, then there is grilled chicken, tropical chicken breast with fresh fruit and a hint of curry and breast of duck a l'orange.  There are steaks, several with unusual sauces such as piri-piri, garlic and mushroom, creamy green pepper and Bearnaise, mixed grill, rack of lamb, loin of lamb or pork and pork fillet.

There is a good fish menu with Gamba prawns fried with garlic and piri-piri, mixed shellfish, hake fillets and the Algarvian Cataplana dish.  From the grill there are Tiger prawns, salmon steak in a shellfish sauce, codfish with garlic and swordfish stuffed with goats' cheese, tomato and olives.

The restaurant offers a vegetarian dish of the day, a good selection of wines and a choice of sweets such as almond tart or orange tart with coffee to follow

If you like lobster, crab, suckling pig or have favourite dish, you are to let the chef know!
