Where to eat in the Algarve, Portugal
O Malhao Restaurante in Praia da Luz
 Restaurant O Malhao is situated about half way between Praia da Luz and Burgau on the local road which runs nearest to the coast. It is on the right hand side of the road coming from Luz, before the right turn to Almadena and almost opposite Porto Dona Maria. The restaurant has the choice of an outside terrace, a cosy, inside dining room and a  large,airey, light, summer dining area.
There is a good choice of starters - soups including a fish soup, melon and smoked ham, Avocado and prawns, Tuna salad and fried home-made sausage, to name a selection. For the main course, there is  a choice of omelettes, fish and shellfish - Clams "Bolhao Pato", Prawns, squid, sole fillet - and meat dishes such as Pork fillet with Madeira Sauce, Duck with Orange, Pork with Clams, Fillet steak and pepper sauce and Portuguese Fillet Steak. Cataplanas of chicken, fish or clams for two people are offered  and the specialities of the house are fish and meat grilled on charcoal - the choice is wide - Sardines, Mackeral, Sword Fish, Codfish, Golden Bream or Sea Bass and Chicken, Spareribs, Pork Steak, Lamb Chops, Veal Cutlet or Fillet Steak, all served with salad or vegetables. There is a good range of frozen ice-cream desserts and traditional Portuguese sweets to follow.
O Malhao makes everyone welcome and as this restaurant is popular with locals and visitors alike, it is advisable to book in the busier summer months.
