The Alto Golf and Country Club Course is set in the undulating countryside with glorious views over  the Bay of Lagos and the Atlantic Ocean and inland, to the Monchique Mountains. The course was designed by Sir Henry Cotton with possibly the longest par 5 in Europe - the 605m 16th hole - this 18 hole, par 72 is a total of 6,125m and spreads over two spectacular valleys. The outward 9 holes are along the coastal strip, whilst the homeward nine take you inland over rolling slopes. At the Alto Golf clubhouse there is a Pro shop, changing facilities, bar, restaurant and an excellent golf academy with tuition available from the resident PGA professional. Practice areas include tiered tees, a bunker, driving range and a putting green.

The Alto Club Praia do Vau apartments are situated minutes from the first tee. The apartments are  furnished to a high standard with either golf course or distant sea views. Kitchens are fully equipped dishwashers, washing machines and microwaves. Clients have use of the Alto Country Club facilities. When you're not on the golf course, you can relax in the indoor or outdoor pools, Jacuzzi and sauna or just sit out on one of the many sun terraces! The pretty fishing village of Alvor with its wide range of bars and restaurants is another welcome distraction.
