Terms and Conditions

Services: Algarve Retreats objective is to offer the independent traveller a wide choice of quality accommodation in Portugal, together with the allied services of car hire and travel insurance.

Financial Protection: As a member of the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT), an Association approved by the Department of Trade and Industry, Algarve Retreats Ltd has provided a bond to meet the requirements of the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992. These regulations apply to packages sold in the UK and this bond provides security for money paid over by its UK customers and for their repatriation to the UK in the event of this company's insolvency.

Booking: Bookings will be accepted by telephone, email, post or in person. A provisional booking will be made at the time of booking but will only be confirmed subject to the following - we have received a fully completed Algarve Retreats booking form, payment has been made, cleared with our bank and a confirmation invoice issued. We reserve the right to decline any booking.

Prices: All prices are shown in pounds sterling and are based on costs in Euros. Due to currency fluctuations, prices may change until such time a booking is made, however there will be no changes to prices after a booking confirmation invoice is issued, subject to payments being made as below. We reserve the right to apply a surcharge in the event of any government actions, such as a change in taxes.

Payment:

Accommodation and car hire: On making a booking, a deposit of 25% is required for all accommodation and car hire. The balance must be paid at least 10 weeks prior to departure. For bookings made within 10 weeks of departure, the full amount is due at the time of booking.

Insurance: The full amount is due at the time of booking.

Payment methods: Payment can be made by cheque, debit or credit card. Payments by credit card are subject to a 1% surcharge, debit cards and cheques are free.

Car hire: Rates for car hire are quoted according to the Hirer's Terms and Conditions (these can be supplied in full on request). Additional deposits, either as credit card slips or cash may have to be left with the hirer to cover fuel and insurance excess. The deposit will be returned if the car is undamaged and the fuel tank refilled to the correct level.

Changes by you: If, once a confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to make any changes to your booking arrangements, for example dates or accommodation, you must notify us in writing. We will do our utmost to make these changes but it may not always be possible. Where we can make the changes, an administration charge of £25 per change of details will be made.

Cancellation: Should you or any member of your party wish to cancel your booking or part of it, written notification must be received from the party leader nominated on the booking form. Cancellation will become effective from the date on which written notification is received by Algarve Retreats Ltd and cancellation charges will apply. The cancellation charges are a percentage of the total price for the accommodation and services booked with Algarve Retreats excluding insurance premiums and amendment charges, which are non-refundable.

Liabilities: Algarve Retreats Ltd does not accept liability for any services, unless payment for these services is made directly to Algarve Retreats ltd. The limit for this is the amount of money that has been advanced to Algarve Retreats Ltd. Algarve Retreats Ltd cannot accept responsibility for circumstances out of it's control, for example, war, acts of terrorism, industrial action, weather, failure of utilities, noise, fire etc.

Algarve Retreats Ltd cannot be held responsible for building work that starts without our knowledge, if we become aware of building works that could affect the quality of your holiday, we will contact you and offer, if available, similar or better accommodation (based on current website price) subject to additional costs being paid, otherwise lesser accommodation will be offered at a lower price and the difference refunded. If this is not acceptable Algarve Retreats Ltd will make a refund to the limit of the money advanced by the customer. This will also apply in the unlikely event of Algarve Retreats Ltd having to make a change in accommodation, following a booking confirmation, for any other reason.

The customer is responsible for damage or breakages to property and contents rented caused by any party member. With some properties a deposit to cover this will be required before departure, this will be returned in full, less any deductions for breakages, within one week of the customer vacating the property.

Your Obligations: It is the client's responsibility to ensure that they arrive at the place of departure in adequate time and with the correct travel documents. Any loss or damage that the client suffers through failure to do so, is the responsibility of the client and we accept no liability for the client's failure to accept this obligation. We reserve the right to terminate the holiday of any client or party member without notice where the client's conduct or behaviour or that of any member of the party which the client has accepted responsibility for by signing the booking form, is disruptive or which affects the enjoyment of other holidays or local residents. In terminating the holiday on such grounds, Algarve Retreats does not accept any liability for any additional costs incurred, by the client or any member of the client's party. In addition, the client will be responsible for any additional expenses incurred by us. It must be noted that those having control of aircraft have the right to refuse boarding to any person who, in their absolute discretion, is behaving unacceptably or is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If for any reason the customer is denied the right to board outward or inward flights the customer will do so at his own risk and expense without any liability whatsoever on the part of Algarve Retreats Ltd.

Non - assignment: The accommodation provided by Algarve Retreats Ltd is for the use of the persons named on the final invoice and confirmed by us. Subletting, sharing or assignment is absolutely prohibited and the customer will be deemed to have cancelled the holiday and the cancellation charges will apply.

Insurance: This is arranged through our broker and is subject to their terms and conditions, details of which can be supplied on request.

Suggestions: Algarve Retreats Ltd welcomes suggestions and observations, good and bad. All customers will be given the telephone number of our partners or agents in Portugal and they will be pleased to hear from you. If a customer has cause for complaint, this must be immediately brought to the attention of the Algarve Retreats Representative, Agent or Villa Management company in Portugal so that action can be taken to rectify the problem. If the matter has not been resolved by the time of departure, the customer should put details of the complaint in writing to Algarve Retreats Ltd within 14 days of the end of the holiday.

Jurisdiction: This contract and all matters arising from it shall be governed by English Law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.

Pets: Pets are not allowed unless agreed in writing.
