On the home page of www.algarve-retreats.co.uk you will see Travel Extras in the sidebar and in larger letters in the centre.
Go on! Click on it and try! Whether you are booking with us or not, even if you are not going to the Algarve this year (why not??) take a look. This is the place where, after you have spotted somewhere to stay, you can find flights, car hire, transfers, travel insurance and other things you may not have even thought about. The Flights section, for example, has links to two comparison sites, as well as BA (sometimes surprising prices!), Freedom Flights, Jet2 and Monarch. The two comparison sites, Flightline and Wegolo, enable you to plan your holiday better and have very good prices because they include most of the no frills flights, such as Easyjet.
There are three Car Hire companies including Holiday Autos, probably the cheapest on the Algarve………….. and, what about when you arrive at your UK airport? With Holiday Extras you can book your airport parking at up to 60% discount even on the day you travel.
Try Travel Extras!

We're in the middle of the 1600s and it's all about Dom Joao IV and family! Firstly, his daughter, Catherine, married our Stuart King, Charles II. Then, when Dom Joao died, his son, Dom Afonso, came to the throne. Too young to rule, his Mother took over as Regent and later the bright young upstart, Count Castelo Melhor elbowed in to run things - and amongst other things, he married his King, Dom Afonso, off to Maria-Francisca-Isabel of Savoy. When it became time to get rid of the Count, enter son number two, Dom Pedro. He ruled as Regent too and poor old Dom Afonso, who wasn't quite…..well, up to it, was sent away to live in the Azores. Maria, realising that she was married to the wrong brother, quickly swopped to the one in the ascendancy! Now where have you heard all that before…………read all about it in David's latest installment of Portugal's colourful history. Oh yes - we find out who our mystery man of the map is too! |

It has the motto -‘the restaurant that was missing in Luz' and we were glad we had found it. O Antonio's served good portions of well cooked, well presented, traditional and modern dishes. The hits of our visit were the Salad Rucola, a mélange of feta cheese, mango, Parma ham & rocket (pictured here), the main course fish dishes and the very piquant lemon tart. Situated half way up Rua da Praia, O Antonio's is modest in size so you would be advised to book.
