The Autodromo Internacional Algarve is in the final stages of construction as it gets ready to open the gates for the first time on November 2nd 2008, to host the final round of the Superbike World Championship. The track is 4.5 km north of the Algarve motorway A22 with a direct road link via the motorway exit at Mexilhoeira Grande. Lagos and Portimao are only about 10 minutes drive away from the track.
Also on Sunday 2nd November is the World Supersport Championship and the FIM Superstock cup. A week later the track hosts the Spanish GT Championship and the Portuguese Touring Car Championship (PTCC).
