This month we bring you news of Christmas and New Year special offers and festivities at three very special resorts, Parque da Floresta, Estrela da Luz and Jardim da Meia Praia. This month, the Portuguese Road Show visits Brighton and we look forward to more of the same in Cardiff too on our last stop for 2007. Also, how we took Port, for the first time, to the Women's Institute!
The visit to the Fontenario has been rather a long time in coming. Although tucked away on the old EN125 in Espiche, Tony tells us that, on several occasions, he and Jackie have just arrived there only to find the restaurant fully booked. Their meal was proof of why the Restaurante Fontenario is so popular and why you have to book.
We have long thought that one of the omissions on www.algarve-retreats.co.uk was the lack of any information on the colourful history of Portugal. So, starting in January 2008, our friend and colleague, David Devereux, will be leading us through the who, what and when of Portuguese history in his easygoing style. When did David choose to start this journey? It's 1386 and the year that Dom Joao I of Portugal (pictured here) and King Richard II of England signed that famous treaty of cooperation that has lasted for over 600 years.
