As we release the June newsletter for distribution, Madeleine is still missing. Her picture is widely circulated in the Algarve and the UK and as we travel to all corners of the earth for our holidays, it is especially important to continue to look for Madeleine, wherever we are.
Algarve Retreats knows the Algarve and indeed Praia da Luz very well. All we can do to reassure you is to repeat that this is an extremely rare occurrence in Portugal, many, many times less likely than in the UK.
Let us all hope that Madeleine is found safe and well and is back with her family soon. www.findmadeleine.com
Situated in the tiny village of Budens, it's easy to miss O Tiago's, unless you know it's there. It is a friendly, family run restaurant and open only in the evenings. If you haven't sampled Stella's hospitality yet, it's time you ventured west and sampled the delights of Restaurante O Tiago.
Maggie and John set off to show friends, Annie and Steve, just how spectacular and different the Algarve's West Coast really is. The surfers found it years ago and perhaps you should take a look at the magnificent scenery of this area too.
The month of May saw several friends in the Algarve at the same time so we joined up with Julie Statham's group of 26 walkers and took a walk on the wild side. Starting at Barao de Sao Miguel, our intrepid group enjoyed a 3 hour circular walk on the Serra de Cao.
The Walking in the Algarve Group take a summer break after June's three walks, restarting again in September. The June programme has shorter walks, starting an hour earlier as the temperature climbs to summer highs. The walks are led by Dr Julie Statham or colleagues Silvia Smeman and Peter Lammin - to join in, just turn up at the appointed time and place.
